Archerfield Airport Corporation (AAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Australian Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle (UAV) developer, Gap Drone, marking a significant step forward in enabling Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) air freight operations at Archerfield.

Gap Drone is developing UAVs capable of carrying freight payloads of 60–90 kilograms over distances of up to 1,100 kilometres, unlocking ‘middle-mile’ logistics solutions for Regional Australia and Southeast Queensland.

Under the MoU, Archerfield Airport and Gap Drone will collaborate to identify the infrastructure, operational procedures, and regulatory frameworks required to support safe and effective RPAS operations.

The agreement builds on Archerfield’s momentum, reinforcing its role as a leading hub for emerging aviation technologies and a vital gateway between Regional Australia and South East Queensland.
